We are pleased to invite you to attend the 6th International Congress on Food Technology that will take place in Athens, Greece, on March 18-19, 2017. The conference is organized by the Hellenic Association of Food Technologists.(HEL.A.F.T.-Π.Ε.ΤΕ.Τ.)under the scientific guidance of the Department of Food Technology of the Alexander Technological Educational Institution of Thessaloniki.(ATEITh), and the support of Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT) , Association of the Greek manufactures of Packaging & materials (AGMPM), Greek Gold Storage &Logistics Association.
The theme of the Conference “Current Trends and Future Perspectives in the Food Sector: From novel concepts to industrial applications” puts emphasis on the modern scientific and technological achievements and attempts to approach, in a creative way, future of industrial applications.Thus, the 6th International Congress on Food Technology is aiming to focus on exploring new ways of thinking, effective resolution of technological problems in the food sector and intensifying possible solutions through interdisciplinary scientific collaboration for dissemination of knowledge, expertise and technological knowhow.
Traditional methods have been applied in Greece from time immemorial to produce olive oil products, famous wines, dairy products (especially different types of cheeses and yogurts) as well as processed meat and fish. In this Conference, our objective is to combine this traditional knowledge with innovative, safe and modern technologies.
Athens is renowned worldwide for its ancient history and monuments while being a lively contemporary city which suits for every taste; plenty of archaeological and historical sites and museums, various mean of entertainment, including a lively nightlife, shopping, pleasant Mediterranean climate and a unique location for easy escape to beaches. The Conference will be held at the Metropolitan Expo Center which is located close to the Athens International airport in the framework of the 4th International Food Exhibition (4th FOODEXPO). There are many ways to approach the most important sight seeing by train underground, bus, tram or cab.
The Organizing Committee has made every effort to create an informative and enjoyable programme that will include scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations, as well as entertaining social events. The scientific programme will include a broad spectrum of subject areas on food safety, innovation, development and industrial implementations. Participants will have the chance to visit Athens ,while at the social events will have the chance to taste local delicacies under the entertaining sounds of Greek music.
